In September of 2017 the true Country Music world, its fans and friends (and as Eddie Montgomery has made it sure to be known, Montgomery Gentry's fans ARE friends), was dealt more of a traumatic blow than maybe some even realized as Troy Gentry tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash. Soon to follow would be one hell of a touching, emotional, heartbreaking and beautiful funeral/tribute/celebration of life for Gentry on the stage of The Grand Ole Opry. In fact that nearly two-hour service is still available to view here, courtesy of LEX-18 news in Gentry's (college) town of Lexington, Kentucky: https://www.facebook.com/lex18/videos/10155846278713447/. Fitting, since in many ways it still seems like only yesterday. Now, in January of 2019 friends and family have joined together at the Opry once again to celebrate T-Roy with an event entitled C'Ya on the Flipside. This celebration is SOLD OUT (as it should be) and is likely to be a bit more up the typical MG-friends' alley as it is hosted by not only longtime friend/accomplished radio and TV personality/unofficial ambassador of Music City - Storme Warren but also co-hosted by none other than bantery ole-red-man himself - Blake Shelton. Among the many acclaimed artists scheduled to perform at the January 9th event are Eddie Montgomery, Ray Scott, Rascal Flatts, Jeffrey Steele, Tracy Lawrence, Dierks Bentley, Craig Morgan, Halfway to Hazard, Lee Brice and Jon Pardi. Even if you can't be at the event you can help make a difference: The Troy Gentry Foundation is hosting an online auction of approximately 100 items which will close January 9th at 9PM central time. Portions of the proceeds benefit Troy's charity of choice the TJ Martell Foundation and items include rarities from high, low and in-between. Examples? Two tickets and a BACKSTAGE MEET & GREET to any ALABAMA "50th Anniversary Tour" show; autographed custom-made Jim Beam Gibson guitar; Charlie Daniels-autographed gold fiddle (ahem...that's an autographed "fiddle of gold" so if you win you might want to take it down to Georgia with you); a Nintendo Punchout game print hand-signed by Mike Tyson; Nintendo Tecmo Bowl game print hand-signed by Bo Jackson, a Hatch Show Print poster from the evening signed by all artists performing, LOTS of special sports memorabilia, trips, getaways, purses, sunglasses, jewelry, vintage photographs and of course a little bit of liquor. There's also a donation-only option. Click here to see all of the impressive listings. Auction closes at 9PM central time. And please don't forget that the 2018 Montgomery Gentry album Here's to You is available here. (Never stop loving Eddie)!
