ABOUT BILLY RAY CYRUS:
Throughout his nearly three-decade career of Billboard chart success, Billy Ray Cyrus has achieved global success as a singer, songwriter, actor, producer and philanthropist. The critically and commercially acclaimed superstar has established himself as a household name across multiple areas of the entertainment landscape, including music, television, theater and more. When one scopes out Cyrus’s trophy case, the awards are represented across all genres: GRAMMY® Awards, Billboard Music Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, MTV VMA Moonmen, Country Music Association Awards, American Music Awards and Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Juno Awards, among many other accolades. The Flatwoods, KY native exploded onto the music scene when his first album, Some Gave All, debuted on the all-genre Billboard album chart at No. 1 and stayed there for a record-breaking 17 weeks in 1992. The lead single, "Achy Breaky Heart," became a phenomenon and went multi-platinum. After "Achy Breaky Heart," Cyrus followed up with back-to-back hits “It Could’ve Been Me,” “She’s Not Crying Anymore,” “Wher'm I Gonna Live When I Get Home?” and the anthemic “Some Gave All.” Cyrus knocked himself out of the top Billboard position with his second No. 1 album, It Won’t Be The Last, featuring smash hits “In the Heart of a Woman,” “Words By Heart” and “Somebody New.” His success continued with dozens more singles that redefined country music. He's also enjoyed a successful career as an actor in the series Doc and Still The King, as well as the hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana with his daughter Miley.

COUNTRY MUSIC ICON KEITH WHITLEY FINALLY NO STRANGER TO THE HALL OF FAME

Brooks & Dunn provided compelling delivery as hosts while announcing the three 2022 CMA Country Music Hall of Fame Inductees, reflecting on achievements and sharing stories with the crowd gathered at the Hall of Fame. Record executive Joe Galante was clearly moved at the news as he shared specifics of how much the recognition moved him (and Brooks & Dunn added personal touches to his music business story, too). Lorrie Morgan spoke touchingly on Whitley's behalf and also recognized Whitley's family members who were in attendance. The event shed even more light on Whitley's background - not the least of which is the fact that his untimely death came mere weeks before (a what was meant to be a surprise to him, he never knew) an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry. The groundbreaking Jerry Lee Lewis rounds out this year's three. Lewis made it well known he was just so grateful and happy to be there, thanking everyone and smiling as he began to speak after an introduction of "getting his name out there any way he could", proving it true by starting his acceptance with: "I'm Jerry Lee Lewis."

Lewis will be inducted in the “Veterans Era Artist” category and Whitley will be inducted in the “Modern Era Artist” category while Galante will be inducted in the “Non-Performer” category.

"To be recognized by Country Music with their highest honor is a humbling experience,” says Lewis. “The little boy from Ferriday, La. listening to Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams never thought he'd be in a Hall amongst them. I am appreciative of all those who have recognized that Jerry Lee Lewis music is Country Music and to our almighty God for his never-ending redeeming grace."

A formal induction ceremony for Lewis, Whitley and Galante will take place at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in the CMA Theater this Fall. Since 2007, the Museum’s Medallion Ceremony, a reunion of the Hall of Fame membership, has served as the official rite of induction for new members.

Tremendous congratulations to all of the inductees. And if you'd like to watch the full video for yourself, here it is (though unfortunately at any given moment the CMA may or may not have it set to private):

    About

Hi. I'm a member of the country club. Country Music is what I love.

Are you somewhere that you don't belong? Without a jukebox and a country song? Maybe you came here seeking a nice, bright, sunny, resort-y kind of place. The kind of place festooned with ferns. Maybe this was even your LAST resort. We hope not. But don't worry, we still have the best of intentions with this blog - you might not find a lot of tennis but we still intend to raise a racket now and then. (In other words --- although you will sometimes find press releases here we net ORIGINAL content too).
